Faith Formation for Children provides an opportunity for children, ages through grade 6* to experience worship, biblically-based learning and fun every Sunday.

We begin each Sunday morning by gathering in the Florence MacKinnon Room at 9:45, where we celebrate birthdays and other special events, collect offerings, pray, and introduce the day’s theme. We then move into a larger hall for games and physical activities. At 10:30 we will separate into smaller, age/grade specific groups, where the children will have the opportunity to sing songs and engage in age-appropriate activities related to the theme of the day.**

At the time of the Exchange of the Peace during the main church service, the leaders*** will bring the children to the worship space for the Children’s Focus. The children then bring the Church School offerings and the gifts of bread and wine to the front for a blessing. All children remain in church until the end of Communion, at which time they return with their leaders to the Florence MacKinnon room for snacks and a time to finish discussions and crafts. Parents and Grandparents may pick up their children there following the service.

*Information regarding our youth program (for grade 7 & up) can be found on our website under "Faith Formation for Youth.

**St. George's uses the Akaloo program as a teaching resource. A video introduction to Akaloo can be viewed HERE.

***Volunteer adult and senior youth leaders teach four-week sessions in teams. High school aged youth may count their leadership time towards their school's "volunteer hours" requirement.

In addition to our weekly formation, every year the children and youth of St. George's present a Christmas / Epiphany Pageant. The script for the pageant is usually written by the youth of the church, and the teaching team is made up of a coordinator, parents, youth, and other interested volunteers.
